Our mission at ESGPlus LLC is to enhance the Safety, Sustainability, and Resilience of the maritime supply chain for our customers and stakeholders using both proven and innovative methods.
ESGPlus LLC was co-founded by Captain Anuj Chopra to provide stakeholders of the maritime industry with a resilient, efficient, and socially responsible global maritime supply chain. ESGPlus is invested in promoting sustainability, increased operational resilience, and reducing the environmental impact of the maritime industry as a whole.
Anuj Chopra, Co-founder
Captain Anuj Chopra is an international executive, enterprise risk manager, and big data champion who has successfully forged client relationships in the maritime industry for more than four decades. His deep experience developing ethical, customer-focused EQ & SQ cultures has led him to conclude high-value contracts with some of the largest shipping companies in the world.
Before his time at ESGPlus, Captain Chopra spent nearly a decade as the Vice President (Americas) of RightShip, developing assessment regimes, negotiating high-level due diligence and compliance agreements in developing business across North and South America, leading to over 500% growth.
Captain Chopra began his seafaring career as a deck cadet, working his way up to Captain. He has commanded large bulk carriers and tankers and holds a Commonwealth Extra Masters Certificate of Competency, and Shipping Management from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.
Captain Chopra, a Fellow of The Nautical Institute, currently serves as Committee member of the UAE branch, an Ambassador for the Sailor Society, and on the Board of Directors at the Houston International Seafarers Center. He is an Adjunct Professor at University of Houston in the Supply Chain & Logistics Technology department since 2021 and is a member of the Supply Chain & Logistics Industry Advisory Board since 2009. Captain Chopra is a Board Member and Treasurer of the North American Marine Environment Protection Association (NAMEPA) and co-chair -Technical Committee of NOAA’s federal advisory committee on Hydrographic Services Review Panel. He continually mentors students and professionals in the maritime domain.
Anuj lead the development of global ESG standards for the Maritime domain and is the Author and Assessor for NAMEPA’s award-winning ESG/CSR Maritime Sustainability Passport Program.
